Mushroom Hunting and Mushroom Beds 101:

October 24, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Are you interested in mushroom hunting?  Already a mushroom forger and looking for a new spot in the area?

The Royalton Memorial Library is hosting a class on mushroom foraging beginning at 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 24th at the library.

Local avid mushroom forger Sylvia Spain is leading this informational discussion on local mushrooms and where to forage as well as how to start a mushroom bed.

Spain said this class covers the most common edible mushrooms hunters can find specific to Vermont.

Another part of identification is where the mushrooms are located.

“Did you find them under an oak tree? Did you find them in the moss? Did you find them in the mulch?” she said are common questions to ask when identifying the different types.

Spain said she has been mushroom hunting for years – while the mushroom bed is a new project and has yielded some results.

The class is free to the public and last about one hour, depending on the questions and discussion by those participating.

For more information or questions on the class, contact Royalton Memorial Library at librarian@royaltonlibrary.org or 802-763-7094.
